GO STEM is a regional partnership that values STEM learning, prepares youth for successful STEM careers, and builds pathways and pipelines to meet workforce needs.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

STEM Education is an approach to teaching and lifelong learning that emphasizes the natural interconnectedness of the four separate STEM disciplines. The common element of problem solving is emphasized across all STEM disciplines allowing students to discover, explore, and apply critical thinking skills as they learn.

GO STEM provides services to 7 eastern Oregon counties.

Our work is focused around the following three strategies for long-term success.

  • STEM Awareness, Pipelines & Pathways: Develop a STEM workforce that includes a variety of opportunity for different educational levels.

  • STEM Systems for Education: Ensure quality STEM educational offerings across Eastern Oregon. This will increase the number of regional high school graduates with full-time employment plans or post-secondary educational plans related to STEM fields.

  • Communicating Rural STEM Perspectives, Needs, Solutions and Opportunities: Communicate rural values and needs between employers, educators, students, and government.

Oregon STEM Hubs are a Strategic Initiative overseen by Oregon’s STEM Investment Council and the Chief Education Office to increase student interest, preparation, and attainment in STEM for success in related degrees and careers.

These regionally-focused, multi-sector partnerships unite schools, institutions of higher education, non-profits, businesses, civic leaders and communities to drive local STEM innovation and improvements at the systems-level, while also working to identify systemic barriers and co-construct solutions with communities most affected by the barriers. Regional STEM Hubs form a mutually supportive statewide network of hubs for implementation and dissemination of best practices.
