A lion’s mane helps protect the throat area from a rival’s claws in a fight. Can growing a beard help protect your jaw if someone lands a right cross? A curious scientist wanted to know and so did some experiments. What experiment would you propose? They first tried to find cadavers with full beards, but that wasn’t possible. So, they decided to use some sheep fleece and made some bricks out of boney material. They dropped weights on the fur covered bricks and measured the impact. The bald bricks shattered or cracked. The hairy bricks were protected. Does a beard defend against a fisted attacker?
