The benefits of Croc tears.

Crocs, alligators, and caimans all take in more salt than they can use. Excess salt is poured out in salty tears in ducts around the eyes. There really are “crocodile tears!” While these reptiles need to get rid of excess salt, insects, like butterflies, need salt because their diets of nectar do not normally provide the sodium they need. So, a beautiful partnership develops between the croc and the butterfly. But, let’s not get too anthropomorphic (giving human emotions to animals), no one is sure that the croc even pays attention nor that the butterfly realizes that they are resting on a living 8 foot creature!
