We have all heard recordings of whales singing. Loud underwater hollering to one another about the gossip under the sea. Much of this whale talk is heard over long distances. Now researchers have found that in some circumstances, whales actually whisper. These soft discussions are usually between a mother and a calve in shallow waters. The belief is that whale whispering helps them hide from predatory orca whales who would eaves drop on such a conversation and take advantage of a young whale.
